MASSIVE TASKFORCE SIGHTED!
MAR 1942, near New York commanding IXC, patroling for the last 7days, sunk 3 merchants, weather has been terrible for days - heavy seas, heavy fog and nearly zero visiblilty, kept down alot by destroyers lurking nearby. So i decided to get the hell out of there and head to the GIB for some easy pickings.
Im in DG69 and get a message about a taskforce moving fast last known position CF66. Im not far from it so i hit standard speed and make way. Not long later in Grid DH16 i come in visual contact with a destroyer. Do a flyby and my Jaw drops to the floor. 4 CARRIERS, (2 in the lead 2 at the rear) 4 NELSONS, 2 CRUISERS & 4 what i think are called ARMED MERCHANTS?. Im about 2800m away with 8 torps left im slowly making my way for a shot at the first two carriers. Theres only 2 destroyers one far off droping depth charges and one leading the pack. Hopefully i'll get lucky. Anyways is this taskforce put in by the RUB mod. I mean did they edit files to make them larger TFs. MODS USED SH3 Commander, RUB 1.45, WAW realism. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...chazion/p1.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...chazion/p2.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...chazion/p3.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...chazion/p4.jpg |
Meanwhile in my Med Patrol commanding a VIIC, as you can see it aint going to good :arrgh!:
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...hazion/MED.jpg Thought i did take two hurricanes on with the flak guns. Turned out to be a bad decision. |
If only there was a wolfpack joining you :hmm: .
Germany could well win the Battle of the Atlantic yet ;) . |
I'm curious to know how many you sink. Post some screenies  I bet 2 Nelsons, though.
Happy hunting :arrgh!: |
If only i had a full load of torpedos, was pretty frustrating watching a taskforce sail by. Result: sunk 1 carrier and damaged 1 Nelson Battleship - although she just kept cruising on like nothing hit her.
Moving in for the kill. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c387/mischazion/A.jpg Kurt our engineer requested i promote his new invention, the Gearstick on the conning tower, no need for the kapitan to issue speed orders ;) http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c387/mischazion/B.jpg Theres our first target. Fired all forward torps. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c387/mischazion/C.jpg Only to miss with the first two, last two struck home! http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c387/mischazion/D.jpg Dead in the water. I'll come back to finish her off later. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c387/mischazion/F.jpg |
Ordered a 180 degree turn ( i might add im running at flank speed here and no destroyers notice) Come round for a shot at a nelson.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c387/mischazion/E.jpg Hit....just! Although she's still remaining at top speed, no point in a chase. I head off to finish the carrier. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c387/mischazion/G.jpg 20min later i get in a good position to fire remaining torps at the sitting duck. shes a goner. http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c387/mischazion/H.jpg http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c387/mischazion/I.jpg Heading back to Lorient |
Nice screenshots! But what about that Kurt guy. A gearstick on the conning tower is a highly unusual invention, I think. :nope: :nope: :|\
|
Well done!
So many targets, so few torpedo tubes! :88) |
FOUR Nelson's :hmm:
Only two were ever built. HMS Nelson, HMS Rodney |
I just wondering how would i explain to my WAW commander if i met the same taskforce during a waw patrol, like ya said 4 nelsons. It wouldn't be realistic.
