Torpedo Attacks with formula

Can anyone tell me how to fire torpedos using the math formula. I'm kind of curious and want to know how. Could anyone explain it, the instructions on how are kind of unclear to me. It would be really nice if someone, or anyone, could give an example too with number if possible, I completly suck in math. Thanks
