Weird way to get awards !!!
Hi
I discovered this game 2 weeks ago. It's great, immersive and the atmosphere is very "Das Boot" style ". But as a History fan, i'm a bit surprise on the way i received awards!!! I sunk about 40000 tons in 3 patrols ( mainly some coastal merchants, except 2 C2 cargos, i play with 70% of realism : / ) they honored me with the iron cross first class... seems normal for me... ( we are in january 1940 ) And suddenly, i started a mission only for checking something on my boat, stop the mission without even moving it a meter... How surprise !!! i received the knight's cross... that's weird and i was a bit fustrated. Prien received his medal after sinking the HMS RoyalOak in october 1939... I know it's easier in game developpement to decide in advance when u will receive that kind of medal, but hey doesn't seems to be realistic... u should receive it if u sunk a big warship, or a total of 150 000 tons, a regular quantity of tonnage during a certain number of patrol, years of service without men lost... well, i hope u understand my disappointment and i hope something exist for fixing it. thanks a lot, |
After a certian number of war patrols your gonna get the iron cross even if you have barely sunk a ship. SHIII doesnt count the lenght of a patrol, so if you sat in you u-boat for a few seconds then its a patrol.

I wonder if the modders can change this :hmm: - and not just changing the total tonnage or patrols required for the medals.
I dont like the way the medals are given out at all :( . I sank a battleship a while ago and what did I get... a u-boat war badge :damn: . |

I sank a battleship and got no medals and a load of renoun taken off. (to be fair tho it was a easy kill, i found it just sitting there in the port i started my patrol at) |
:rotfl:
I don't think they would be too happy about you sinking the Bismarck :88) . At least you weren't shot. |
