To be honest I think America's most treasured icon is the Statue of Liberty, New york just happens to have it in the Harbor.

Russia has too many icons as it is. :88)

If i have to chose one it has to be the Finlandia hymn. Im sure it gives shivers down the spine to most Finns.. You can listen it here. http://virtual.finland.fi/netcomm/ne...ntNWSAID=26989

Oberon, what are they using the Millenium Dome for nowdays? I remember being in Britian when it was being constructed and even then the papers and media were poking fun at it.

To be totally honest with you I haven't got a clue, last I heard it was going to be turned into some sort of business park, as if London doesn't have enough of 'em :-?

Kap might know, he's closer to London than I am. :|\

my dad repairs fork lift trucks near the dome its closed up and not realy used much except for special venues which is about once a year what a waste of money :nope:

Other candidates would be Mt. Rushmore, the Golden Gate bridge, the Washington and Lincoln monuments, the Alamo. They all have national recognition.... and better, to some, yet they aren't in NYC... :smug:
