I think I'm going to buy Silent Hunter III, but there's few questions about it.

About the damage modeling. Is it same like in IL-2? In example, you just dont have health bar , but insted your submarine could break in parts like you could just have a hullbreak or your periscope gets broke or something similar?

Is the online play very active nowadays? Is there plenty of players online? Is there plenty of mods and skins avaible on internet?

Well there is a health bar equivalent - a hull percentage statistic, though realism mods like RUb remove it.

All components and compartments can be damaged separately. Compartments can flood separately, too.

Also individual or multiple crew members can get wounded or die.

Never played MP but there are some groups out there with a weekly schedule.

As Avon said, your boat can lose, for example, one of the two engines, periscopes, rudders, everything that is modeled on your boat can be destroyed. But beware the flooding, even if your radioroom gets filled with water, it´s game over.

That´s the thing I dont like about the damage model! I bet that if the WC could be flooded, it would destroy your whole boat.
