Guess who´s back! (Possibly for good)

So, my first 2 weeks in the army are over. It didnt go as I planned.

I have rheumatism on my knees (I´ve had it for 8-9 years now). Before the service, my knees were good, it didnt hurt or anything. The doctor said that it would be better for me to serve in the "B" group, but I wanted to serve in A group.

In Finland there´s different classes of service;

A=Normal
B=Easier (For someone with i.e. bad eyes or some illness)
C=Not in condition to go though the service
and so on

On third day, when we were marching back from the target range (where I shot 86 points out of 100 with 10 shots! :rock: ) My knees gave up and I collapsed, it took me almost 10 minutes to get on my feet again.

And now it hurts like hell, I cant even walk properly! Tomorrow I go back there and I have appointment with the doctor, who will decide whether they transfer me to "B" or, if I have bad luck, to "C".

Just wanted to share this with you.
:roll:

Now, tell me all the news from the past 2 weeks in SHIII community! :yep:

...But nevertheless happy to have you back. :)

That sucks mate. I know how you feel though, in september i found out that i have acute rheumatoid arthritis in my knees. I could barely walk at the time.

Hope u can go into 'B' group.

Trying out for a snipers position were you? :lol:

Bad luck about your knees. I know what its like. I had knee surgery almost 7 years ago. Doc told me it should get better but my knee gave out on me 6 weeks after operation. Now i'm stuck with a pretty usless knee that won't allow me to do much at all.

I was away when you left and didn't even get to say goodbye, so it's kind of a relief you're back sooner than I figured you would be :dead:

Yea, knees. That certaily sucks.

Well, I hope to see you back in WaW then :|\

I was diagnosed with Rheumatic fever when I was 4 (I am now 28) years old. I was lucky to have been diagnosed early and treated (for 16 years i had to take Peniciline shots). But After my early problems at that young age I never had any problems (Thank God) and was always a good sportsman throughout school and College days. Used to run 100m/200m Sprint.

Anyhow, I do believe with proper treatment and willpower you can overcome this hurdle. I do wish you the best.

Regards.

As an ex Australian Army Para I'd just say that there is no shame in a medical downgrade.

You turned up and gave it your best and for reasons beyond your control the army (or the parts you wanted to serve in) may be outside of your reach now.

Good luck and be proud that you tried, many don't.
