Scared a Destroyer so bad he shi@!
This doomed destroyer's route was right in front of the sub at 500m. Check out these unedited screenshots.
Before meeting my torpedo http://www.teksolvers.com/images/sh2_dd1.jpg After! Watch carefully the explosion midships.... http://www.teksolvers.com/images/sh2_dd2.jpg The explosion is moving! http://www.teksolvers.com/images/sh2_dd3.jpg I scared the burning cra@ right out of him http://www.teksolvers.com/images/sh2_dd4.jpg More fire and smoke on the water than on the ship in these next two http://www.teksolvers.com/images/sh2_dd5.jpg http://www.teksolvers.com/images/sh2_dd6.jpg |
Hehhe, Deep sixing a tin can is always gratfying. Yeah their not much in the way of tonnage, infact a small merchant is more tonnage then a Destroyer, but damn if they arent gratifying to torpedo.
My favorite is when i come accross one doing 25 knots, and i can manuver to be within 800 meters to target his magazine. The explosion is like a domino effect down the length of his hull and his destroyed hull glides along a few hundred meters before he just slides underneath the water like type 7 uboat crash diving. Very satisflying to watch. |
I got a similar effect playing a game, could that be the AI simulating buring oil escaping through the breach in the hull ?

 yup it's an oil slick AFAIK good effect tho----watching the flames travel down the length of the ship looks like a series of chain reaction explosions--

Nice shots. As was already said, it is very gratifying to sink a DD. I love it when the hunter becomes the hunted. A while back I was on a patrol in my little IID. I was at the east entrance to the English Channel. A C Class destroyer appeared. It was at the right angle so I decided to stick an eel in his side. What followed was one of the brightest explosions I have seen in this game. Obviously, the eel hit the sweet spot.

Are you sure the torp hit? Reason being some sailor could have been out on the Poopdeck having a smoke. And, inadvertantly while putting away his Zippo, lit a fart. Ship go boom...big badda boom. ;) LOL
