I've been trying to completely start a flotilla file from scratch; yet I keep getting crashes:

Intrestingly enough i was experimenting with this today, and i breifly had it working ( i changed something and all it does is crash now)
Adding/creating a floatilla involess ALOT more. The floatilla.cfg only gives the flotilla values, it doesnt create the flotilla. theres alot more files you need to play with. Theres 3 files your concerned with as far as i know. /sh3/data/cfg/floatilla.cfg sh3/data/menu/en_menu.cfg (dont remember the name exactly) /sh3/data/menu/cfg/floatilla.cfg Its the entries in the en_menu.cfg that acutally create things. From bases, to flotillas. This file assigns the ID number that other files use. If you want to adda base or flotlal, you have to give it a number in this file. Now flotilla configuration is real finicky, the game doesnt like it when things arent 100% complete, and perfect. Another thing you should know is patrol assignments: March0000=AN16 March0001=AN16 etc etc. The numbers here have to match the floatilla order and year order. For example the 33rd float is the 7th listed. So it should be. March7000=AN16 March7001=AN16 Now thats just for the first year, lets say the float starts in 1944, is only in existance for 2 years. Then then your next entry, for 1945 will be March7100=AN16 March7101=AN16 if there were a 1946 then it would be March7200=AN16 March7201=AN16 and so on and so on. |

I ran into two problems. 1.) I meant for it to mimic the 12th out of bourdoux, and it started it placed my starting base at keil 2.) Acutal starting patrol it put me in the usual location to the west of africa when things go wrong with the configuration files. I didnt do pay close attention to all the detials, and i threw it all together in about 10 mins - so i didnt spend much time on it. I think its possible, like i said, i got it to start a game. If it is, i want to create the 30th in the black sea, and an offshoot of the 12th at penang. |
It could be that you guys are forgetting to alter this file:
data\Campaigns\Campaign\Campaign_LND.mis It's a really important one. Don't want to forget that. :yep: |

Campaign_LND.mis
It holds the lattitude, longitude, and heading of all the bases, which is really important. You'll need to edit these values if you wish to start a patrol at a different location. This also applies to docking and starting patrols at neutral or friendly bases. This file holds the locations of all the bases, which essentially controls their respective starting locations. |
Yeah i realize that. In my experiments i was using my Bourdoux as my fictional Flotillas base. So in theory all i need to do use use the same values as the 12th.
I know that the 2nd and 10th flotolla's share lorient as a base. Although thinking further for a moment, you could have a point if each flotiall requires its own starting point. I dont have it infront of me, but do the 2nd and 10th share the same lat/ long? Thats been my assumptioin since they're both out of lorient, but i havent checked to verify it. |
I'm not really the one to know too much about the flotilla files or the campaign files. I've already told you about as much as I know. Rubini is definately the better expert, but he's on vacation right now... hmm....
|
Ill figure it out.
Hell, i figured out how to change a flotillas base. If i wanted to i could have the 12th floatillas home base at penag, complete with outfitting screen to upgrade your boat, just like bordoux. |
Cool!
I can't wait to see what you'll create for us. :yep: |

I have two things im tinkering with (just when i was bout to give up modding - funny, ive yet to release anything) 1. Patrol based fatigue with the concept of fatigue representing food supply. Food onboard a uboat is not infinate. 2. Creating a new flotilla. Number 1 has my attention, although i can work on number 2's files on another PC while running tests on the fatigue model in a test mission. |
It's ok... Modders are lazy, slow, and totally out of their mind.
Well, at least I am... |
