Good news for Eurofighter

:D http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/...ract/index.php

Good news then for jobs here in the UK and the whole Eurofighter program.

XabbaRus 12-29-05 06:03 PM

Hmmm I wonder if teh slush fund had anything to do with it?

Also I wonder how Uncle Sam is going to view it?

I might have to pop over to Stratgeypage and see what the neocons who write there say about it and rubbish Eurofighter straight off.

A good laugh to be had by all.

[thread hijack]

Why the hell do we even need more firepower in this world? Don't we have enough already? Why is every major nation obsessed with advanced war technologies? Don't tell me these machines are made in the name of peace... That's the biggest load of crap I've ever heard of. "Our 10 ton payload will help deliver peace to the world".... Excuse me, but that's just bullsh*t...

To me, it's just a big waste of money; money that could be better spent elsewhere. By no means are these airplanes cheap. Imagine what these billions and trillions of dollars could do for the world... The endless possibilities... And instead we build flying hunks of metal to allegedly "patrol" the skies.

What a wonderful world we create for ourselves... :nope:

I want to hear what you guys have to say about this.

I say "Peace through Superior firepower."

It worked for the cold war. :yep:

Marhkimov 12-29-05 06:31 PM

Please tell me you're kidding... :-?

Wim Libaers 12-29-05 07:11 PM

"Those who beat their swords into plowshares usually
end up plowing for those who do not." - Benjamin Franklin

"The evolution of warfare was an autocatalytic reaction that could not be halted by any people, because to attempt to reverse the process unilaterally was to fall victim" - Edward O. Wilson

Basically, you can't have peace unless everyone wants peace. And with that, I do not mean the kind of peace you get when the meanest dictator has finally conquered all other nations.

Marhkimov 12-29-05 07:29 PM

So at this rate, we're only gonna have peace when mankind's own nuclear weapons annihilate this world a hundred times over.

Peace at last, huh?

Well, it's either that or keep on stockpiling up weapons. Just keep on building and building and building... To what end? What is the purpose of building weapons and tools, only to let them rust and rot?

That is unless we are asking for war, in which case firepower is necessary.

Everything is done for a reason, so it is really obvious that in building more weapons of war, peace will not follow suit... WAR will.

I agree with Pigfish and Wim;
"The price of peace is eternal vigilance."

Marhkimov 12-29-05 07:57 PM

You really agree that continually building weapons will solve more problems than it will create? You guys really believe that this technologically advanced Eurofighter will make the world a better place?

Would anyone care to explain this foreign concept to me? That more bombs will bring peace to the world? I don't quite understand this ideology... :shifty:

Tell me... Am I being difficult?? Or might I have some sort of a point here...

TLAM Strike 12-29-05 08:05 PM

Rational people don't fight people who have a bigger stick then they do.

And occasionally you get irrational people who do and said stick is used to beat them.

Marhkimov 12-29-05 08:07 PM

Tell me who's more irrational?

The ones who build these big sticks to whack at other little sticks, or the ones who build the little sticks to fend off the big sticks?

TLAM Strike 12-29-05 08:21 PM

The irrational people are the ones who build big sticks with the intention of beating those who have little sticks.

As the saying goes; 'Guns don't kill people, people kill people.'

Its perfectly rational to built the biggest best stick around to defend your self when attacked.

Marhkimov 12-29-05 08:24 PM

I mean c'mon... Let's think critically here... After we have successfully stocked up enough nuclear warheads to blow up the entire world a hundred times over, why do we need to continue to make more weapons? Does it make sense?

What will the purpose of this Eurofighter be?

Will it cause a deterance in terrorism around the world? No

Will it make the world a more peaceful place to live in? No

Will you feel safer knowing that Eurofighters are going to be on patrol 24/7 over some foreign country? No

And once we finish with those questions, maybe we should ask ourselves, "What are we really doing here?"

Selling an airplane. To me, that's the overriding factor in this whole thing. :hmm:
