Weird finding...
 

Its Novemeber 1939 and i just started my campaign. Im in my 2nd patrol just west of ireland and i run tino my first convoy. Lots of ships and 2 escorts, a flower corvette and another little destroyer. I took a look at the flower corvette and it has hedgehogs?? Looks like it has radar too?? Now.. Reading "Hitlers Uboat War" i know that none of these advancements were ready in 1939, or maybe i ran into the expreimental corvette??? Anyway this is really weird. I expected to run into an auxilary ship escorting convoys in 1939. Oh well.. Guess ill have to fight thru it..

Did they actually use these things on you though? I think the game models all these items on the ship skins regardless of the year. Kinda like the radar hoop on your sub that doesnt work till later on.

yah i just attacked the convoy this morning. 2 torps hit 1 malfunction and 1 miss. Only a c3 went down. SHortly after i dived and i was pinged, their first pass hit me really hard, lost 1 man. Then after that they kinda lost me, which is totally a early war thing. But they USED the damn hedgehogs! I heard em and saw em fire at me!! What the heck!!1? Rub 1.45 bug maybe? Dunno.. Whats going on?

What's odd to me is the Flower itself. The first ones didn't go into service until September 1940, and you shouldn't be running into one until well into 1941. I didn't realize the game had them that early.

have you encountered this too guys?? Cuzz it just killed me...

I would probably dismiss this if I didn't myself meet (and get killed by) a Hedgehog-armed Flower once in 1942! :o

According to the equipment file that ship doesn´t even have a Hedgehog... :hmm:

I think hedgehogs are being confused with the depth charge "launchers" that fire depth charges off at right angles to the ship.

Hedgehogs explode on contact....the ones being seen here are just depth charges being "thrown" in a pattern.

I have a pretty close to vanilla 1.4b install @ 94% realism, am in my 3rd patrol off wesern Ireland in late 39/ early 40 (just this time of year...) and have had a NASTY run in with a Flower class. 15 m/s wind and medium fog, this guy was all over me like stink on a u-boat. Funny thing was, on my first patrol ( or was that the second?...) I attacked a large convoy with NO escort. Too rough to gun, but used up all the fish, sank seven, and laughed later when it was reported as a SMALL convoy. But I digress. If one guy was on to me so much, I think I'm in trouble when they get their act together and start triangulating on me.

Anybody make it to '45 from '39?
