Marhkimov's Ocean MADNESS v2
BIG thanks to TimeTraveller for providing me with the modding tools that never allow me to sleep. THANK YOU! :D
So with that being said... Here are my newest environment colors. I've made extensive tests and changes, over months and months of time... I made sure that the sky and the sea mix together seamlessly at the horizon, that the underwater colors are just right, and that the colors reflect perfectly off of the u-boat and the surroundings. And many more color tweeks that I can't even remember! NOTE: I have not changed underwater visibility. Atlantic water is bleak and PALE BLUE. It matches well with the skies, which I have made a little brighter, but I have still retained the overall "greyish" look of the Atlantic. http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/1637/15cj.jpg Arctic water is BLUE BLUE BLUE. It looks like it is freeezing cold. The skies glow brightly during the day and have a neon purple glaze during sunset/sunrise. It gives it a "fresh air" effect. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...d/b9bdfb3a.jpg Med water is TURQUOISE to GREEN. It looks a lot like tropical water, similar to Hawaii, the Caribbean, and well, the Mediterranean of course! A native of the La Spezia area has told me that the colors are spot-on perfect. http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/3224/1blank0fx.jpg http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/9039/39lm1.jpg And due to my experience with light-night mod, I can make it so that the nights are a tiny bit brighter. So that you can finally SEE!!! http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/7756/29ju.th.jpg http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/9190/12uz.th.jpg Available at terrapin's site, in the mods section: http://www.u-boot.realsimulation.com/ or http://rapidshare.de/files/9028650/M...ESS_v2.7z.html Marhks_Ocean_MADNESS_v2 |
Looks awesome!!! Would love to try it.

Very nice colours, would like to give them a try ,too.

Could someone post these IUB files for me? I need to make them work with my colors, but I don't want to download the entire 200mb just for these files...
SkyColors_Arct.dat SkyColors_Atl.dat SkyColors_Med.dat P.S. just make 100% sure that they are from IUB. |
You are da man, marhkimov
Love the ocean colors (especially the Med), and the lighter night. Thanks, mate! TT And wait till you boys see this guy's smoke!! :D |
LOL! I was a non-smoker, but TT made me start... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Is IUB 16km or 8km?
I won't need someone to post the IUB Env files, as long as I know which settings IUB uses... |
excellent colors
is it possible to map the lightness of the night depending on whether it's overcast or not? I was thinking that if it's overcast AND night, you would actually get zero visibility. Complete darkness. But with the moon and starlight, you could get a little. I would tone down the lighter nightlight.. and if possible make it so that the overcast nightlight is almost completely dark. |
Oh s*h*i*t (excuse me)... Now that you mention it, I think that is possible. I can do it, but that would take some more time.. Hmm... :hmm:
That is an awesome idea, I totally overlooked it... But I'm not sure... It could be somewhat possible; I'd have to test it and make a few (or many) tweeks... |
Ok, on second thought, it can't be done as I initially thought it could.
The lighting of the night sky is determined by a single color palette, and SH3 uses that single palette for every nighttime condition, regardless of clear, cloudy, or stormy skies. Which is really unfortunate, because there are many different color palettes for daytime lighting. And that allows for many combinations of lighting. There is lighting for when it is clear, for when it is cloudy, for when it is cloudy but the sun is visible, for when it is cloudy and the sun is hidden, for when it is dusk or dawn, for when it is twilight between dusk, dawn, and nighttime, and when it is stormy in overcast. The devs went through that much trouble to model the daytime in SH3, but they only left one condition for night... black... :shifty: They really should have hired the Microsoft Flight Sim weather team... Those guys know how to cook up a storm. :D |
I'll take one in stock SH3 format!
|
ok, stock will work with 8km/RUb/stock Env settings. They all use the same files.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but IUB uses 16km, so it will work with 16km/IUB Env settings. I'm even going to update the SH3Cmdr_Med_Seawater_Fix in this newest mod "thing"... whatever you want to call it... ;) |
