Shkval E
Got this from Janes-does anyone know more about this? :hmm:
"Shkval-E underwater rocket promoted for harbour role The Russian Tactical Missiles Corporation JSC is marketing a short-range anti-ship missile system armed with a conventional-warhead variant of the Shkval supercavitation underwater rocket-torpedo, writes Miroslav Gyurosi. It is being promoted as an anti-surface ship weapon able to defend harbours and beachheads or to enforce a naval blockade." http://www.janes.com/defence/naval_f...1109_1_n.shtml http://www.eurasianet.org/resource/k...411/0003.shtml |
same old same old its just another veriant of the SKHVAL (VA-111)
the did say they would bring out a more modern one the VA115 i doubt this is it, its like the MK48 and MK48ADCAP just an update |
Good find. Using Shkval for harbor defense seems a bit of a stretch, tho.

I agree with Bill. Normal mines are a heck of a lot cheaper.

Will be interesting say 20 years from now what advances super cavitation will play in the worlds Navys. If Im still alive.
A looong time ago I posted a pic of an American super cav torpedo. It was from an arms show. I lost the pic and link long ago. Does anyone recall what Im talking about? And if so do you still have the pic/link you could post? I think It was a Mcdonell-Douglas torpedo. |
