Sub school?
what if we had a sub school for dangerous waters ?
some of you guys could teach the new ones and people who wish to convert all about the selected platforms you use or command. what you think ? |
The CADC has an informal "Sub School" - well sort of. This list of Instructors consists of people who do various platfforms, check out the member profile for preferred ones. If the need is there, and more important we can gather some people to actually run it, I could establish a more "formal" SubSchool at the CADC, which would be independent, so no affliction to a particular virtual navy, just some old hands showing the ropes. Any takers ? Or more accurately, anybody thinking thats a good idea?

il do it if you need the help

Sub School
I think this would be an excellent idea. I know for myself I am still trying to learn DW, and could use help and guidance.
Respecfully, Ron Banks MMCM(SS), USN(Ret) |
Looks like interest is there. For reference this will be an independent school (means you don't have to join any virtual fleet). So now the call to arms .. anybody out there who be interesting in developing such a school or at least parts of it.
The following is just some sort of Brainstorming (some might call it Brainfarting), how I would approach the whole thing. I'm thinking about a Basic part which deals with principal operation of subs and advanced classes for the individual plattforms. Of course if the need arises, this could be expanded with some sort of "Perisher Course" or somethink akin to it, for Advanced Tactics. All thats needed is someone to put together the theoretical information for basic sub ops in a conscise manner, preferably in one document (don't has to be new, maybe ask the authors of the various manuals if you can use parts of their stuff) which can be provided for students as a one stop manual for their basic course. As for the class based advanced courses, there would be a need for class related information within (again preferably) one document. For future students it would mean they download a basic manual which takes them step by step through the basics, which they can try in MP under supervision of an instructor later then. This can happen as the Instructor sees fit as long as it works. Once they are safe in basic handling of their boat they can start the advanced course on their plattform of choice and get the manual for their class. Again after some time with the manual and maybe some offline practice they get in MP with an instructor. Once they feel safe on handling their boat they can either take on the next class, or concentrate in mastering their current boat. As a final "incentive" I (or someone with better artistic talents) could create a nice certificate for every step, means Basic, Individual Classes, Perisher Course (?). But thats just something for the sidelines, more a fun thing I think :hmm: So whats needed :
Whats not in? I'm not a fan of grades. If the instructor & the student thinks the student got the stuff down pat enough to go on, and can justify that descision then its cool by me. I'd gladly provide the CADC as a host for such a school. For the documents, I would suggest using Word/PDF or something like that,, because it can be quite easily downloaded, printed and read offline. If however the developers of the relevant documents prefer to have an online variant as well, that can be arranged. Anyway now it's up to you ... any takers ?? |
I could hardly keep my sig if I didn't participate... I've been doing some "on-the-fly" newbie training this far, but nothing this organized.
|
Sure, (and this goes to everyone else) if you want to particpate and help in anyway, just sound off with what you want to add to the project. May it a mission (or more), may it one of the manuals - or even parts ... everything is helpful.
|
I drafted a couple of pages in response - then had a whooops moment. :o
OneShot is an expert switch thrower, I remembered. ;) :D So yes, I support the project but no, at present I am too busy and focusing on Mission Design. I dont rule out making a future contribution, possibly training mission/s. However I think its important that you dont attack on too broad a front. With Kapitains Akula Guide project you have something specific. If that, as a Test Case, can be brought to fruition, then it could pave the way for further developments. Others will observe and decide if they wish to jump aboard. ;) |
Took a bit longer, because I was busy with other things.
Check out this forum over at the CADC : SubSchool BETA I hope this helps to finally gets this project starting. Cheers OS |
excellent one shot

Ok Gents, I started up the minimal infrastructure (expand later to whats needed). Put up a draft for my idea on a Sub Ops manual and even got the Ok from Timmy_G00 and ADM Homer on the TACMAN respective BlueBook to be used where needed.
Now guys, the ball is in your court - I'm just an airedale happy to shoot at subs ... you can read up on most (hehe) tactics in the P-3 OWTOP, so don't hold back on the very basics of sub ops now. 16 people think its a good idea, so step forward and help turn this idea in something real. I would like to Learn :D I think I would like to try learn to play on line :D
I would need some patient instructors :D I am on eastern time in US. I have been trying to study my manual and learn about the ship and air platforms. I have been picking up a lot of tips on Links to info at CADive Center.and this forum. Thank's guys Lane :D |
I think anything that produces resource materials for players, smoothes the learning curve for SC/DW, and generate further interest in these games is a good thing.
I don't see myself participating in a formal program of education, but I would gladly download read and try training missions. |
