Link to be revisited?
Based on what Apocal saw as well as myself (can see it on the Designer forum), We saw some strange behavior by the Link. I just hope we are wrong and things are normal with link.
...But seeing helicopter reporting Subs on Link when no Buoys are hot or when a ship (AI) is reporting it and is more than 10 miles from it and that submarine is not cavitating.... May be they were in some kind of CZ or the helicopter (AI and control by my ship) is able to conduct some other processing that we don't know... I am playing with the 1.01 and the Hot Fix. Just waiting to have the official 1.03 to try the great LWAMI Mod BTW Luftwolf, was there anything you change or modify in that regards in your mod for the Link. Lets have some more testing with this Any Comments Thanks |
The link is definately a bit funny sometimes, but works for most situations pretty well. Unfortunately, there is nothing that Amizaur and I can do about cleaning up the link directly, only SCS can do that.
In terms of the detection of the subs at such a distance, this is not entirely uncommon with the stock game, as airplatforms can detect subs are huge ranges. The mod makes things a little more fair for the submarines by reducing detection ranges in some conditions. If the helo is detecting the sub and no buoys are hot, it's probably picking them on its dipping sonar, which could conceivably pickup a submarine at such a distance using the stock database. The mod reduces detection ranges, particulary for buoys, to a more playable level. |
But how can a Helo use his dipping sonar when control by the ship?
When the helo is not control by the ship? |
I would have to see the situation to be able to make a specific diagnosis, as so much can vary. I wasn't able to get a clear picture based on your description...

This was 1.02 with the associated LWAMI mod installed. The helo had no chance to dip, it had barely cleared the flight deck when I got the Link contact. |
