OT: Is degausing still an issue with subs?

Just another midwatch conversation, I thought subs don't worry about degausing anymore but was quickly jumped upon. So does degausing still exsist or has it gone the way of LORAN?

Oh yea they still get degaussed, even with low magnetism steel they still get degaussed to maintain maximum covertness.

Cool, thanks for the come back. Now we'll have to find something else to argue about on the mids

Mine warfare is actually something the Navy spends a lot of time worrying about these days. More warships have been damaged by mines since WWII than cruise missiles or torpedos.

COuld you "DG" your sub so it could not be detected by MAD or MAD fused torps? in regards to DW.

Why would you think that the database reflects undegaussed warships?
