new to sh3
 

I havent been able to play sh3 because i didnt have a good enough computer, but next week I get my new Dell xps 400 so if anyone would tell me what patches and or mods I need I would really appreciate it Thanks :up:

Hey Todd and welcome to SH3.
First thing youll wanna do is d/l and install the 1.4 patch found over at the SH3 site. Most of the mods are built for that.

Then youll want the generic mod enabeler found in the d/l section at subsim.com. Makes installing mods a snap.

Popular opinion is to go with SH3 commander, also found at subsim and either the lastest version of RUB(realuboat), version 1.45 I believe OR the latest version of IUB(improveduboat). IUB has all of RUB and some other goodies. (Not the latest version of RUB though)

Im running SH3 commander and IUB and am quite happy with that combo.

Now with IUB or RUB you may find that its to dark at night to see. You can either adjust your monitor gamma settings (there are none in game) or you can use the light night mod.

If you go to the list of mods sticky on this page it has a link for IUB and you also find the light night mod on the same site.

RUB can be found on the subsim site.

If you end up using SH3 Commander just make sure you install it last.

Hmmm.......don't see either one of them there.....just a patch for iub is all.

Click on the Sh3 downloads at left. Youll get screen to accept terms. Click on I accept. Next screen you see will have IUB right at the top. It'll say "Improved U-boat by Orgy". That takes you to the actual list. Then just d/l iub 1.2 and the patch from list.

The light night mod is in the general section. Long list of mods.

todd293 don't forget the most important for SH3 ( and all games) is the graphics card. Hope you get a good one.

Its coming with a nvidia 6800 256mb, ive never had a nvidia I always had Ati, but this time I thought I would give nvidia a shot.
