16km scene.dat file atmospheric fog fixed final

It was long but a lot of values needed to be checked, but the atmospheric fog in all weathers condition is fixed and re_scaled to the new distances.
This pack give you the oportunity to choose scene.dat files with increased Lod values. From standard (LOD 1) up to LOD 8. More precisions
in the Readme.
Try it, all suggestions are welcome.

Great Kaleunt  .
How about the visibility at night? Is it the same as before in this mod?
I know there is possible to tweak some fog values, but for me the Fps was very low when nightspottings were shorter.

Thanks for the upgrade Kaleunt... Man, I'm soooo lazy to put out another atmosphere mod... Boo my laziness.

btw rulle34,

did you ever fix the vampire settings?

rulle34 12-03-05 10:55 AM

Hello marhkimov
I got better spotting ranges at night, but it had negative effect on fps. Too much to realese any mods

No ideas...Yet :D

Just make sure that the FPS drop wasn't a fluke. Once, I thought one of my mod settings was causing an FPS drop, but I turned off the computer and tried again tomorrow... And guess what? No FPS drop...

Better to be safe about things...

Hello Rulle 34, sorry but i didn't try to tweak the maximum visibility range
at night since our earlier tests. All my tweak gave me too much random results. But the problem appears only during clear night and no fog weather. In foggy weather is another matter, at night, with heavy clouds
and medium or heavy fog, a ship is really dificult to spot by the AI- crew.
I didn't found a way to reduce the visibility at night clear weather in the scene.dat file. I think is related to others parameters wich ones and in wich file? i don't know yet. What i can really say is that the scene.dat file rules only the 3D environment.

Hi Kaleunt!

Regarding cameras.dat, there's a good reason why the "FarDistance"value should be left at 10000 instead of 20000.

With your new camera settings, I lost a solid 30 fps. And the real kicker is that SH3 does not even render the ocean past a certain vicinity of the u-boat. Any water beyond 10000 meters shows up as a flat blue texture, so basically it's a lot of wasted rendering power.

I would leave it at 10000. It works fine with atmosphere mod, even though we can see 16000 meters. It's not like the ships are floating or anything...

Marhkimov.

EDIT: Ok, I just realized that it doesn't eat up as much fps as I originally thought. But still, I like it better at 10000 meters.

Kaleunt 12-04-05 10:27 AM

Hello, Marhkimov, if you think that all is going well without the cameras.dat
file combined with the atmosphere mod,ok, use the scene.dat as you wish.
I have followed the way open by Manuel Ortega, the cameras.dat file can be optional. The increased visual range up to 20000m in the cameras.dat
had an only goal: staying in line with the visual detection capabilities of the
AI_crew.

A great mod and the perfect addition to the atmosphere mod, thank you Kaleut!!
I´m lucky my video card can handle the max LOD version and it looks just amazing! :sunny:
First time since the visibility mod came out i got a perfect horizon and no strange effects when using the external camera, especially on planes...
A good testing mission for the fix was the narvik single mission, it makes a huge difference compared to the stock atmosphere mod!

How this work exactly?

Is LOD 8 is the Max details or the lowest?

What details exactly it is reducing? The ships or the waters?

Which setting must be changed to get rid of this effect?

PS. FarDistance is 10000.

Salvadoreno 03-05-06 10:21 PM

so this mod adds better fog?? It needs Atmosphere Mod V1 and Atmosphre 16km 2 DARK?
Code:

answers please?

LOD means Level Of Details. So the higher the LOD number, the greater the drag on your CPU/GPU, which means lower FPS.

There is a fine balance that you much chose based on your hardware, software and game settings so you get the quality (resolution, AA & AF)and quantity (FPS) that you want/can live with. :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:
