Free look.......
I know it is not really fair...and is close to downright cheating...but how many of you guys use the free look button.....I find it hard to resist....especially when I have fish in the water....
|
I never used to use it. But it gives great opportunities for good screenshots :D .
I mostly use it for good (screenshots and such) but have to try hard not to use it for evil - the worst I normally exploit it is to check flags at night. |
I use it pretty often, partly for my modding work and partly b/c I love all the dramatic angles it can capture. I used to use it to line up shots but I rarely do this anymore.

You have to really to appreciate all the brilliant work people have put into the graphics, it's almost like being in a film

I love and hate freelook.
I love it for the fun factor, the great viewing opportunities. Seriously all those sub skins, emblems and other misc graphics mods dont do much when you can't view them. On the other hand, It spoils the suspense factor, and gives me information that i just shouldnt know., and hence ruins immersiveness for me. If i could just have the sub exterior view, and NOTHING else, id be happy. |

Hey it's only cheating if you go actively search for where everything is and make plans based on what you saw.
I have no problem using freelook just on my sub, or even watching a DD drop depth charges. Then I go back in the control room with no more information then I had. |

I avoid it. Reason? I lost credit for enenmy sinkings while in that mode.

I use it for screenies only, and only after I have shot torps. If there are no enemy around and I want some screens of my sub leaping through the waves, then I will spend a while up there getting the right angle.
My first 3 patrols I used it after torps launched and before they hit. Usually now, I watch through my scope until I see an explosion, then pause game, then freelook for a good screenie, then back to my sub and turn the time back on. While the temptation is strong to glance up above while I am being pounded with depth charges, I have been able to resist so far. 92% realism is fine for my 1st career. I will go to 100% for my next career once I die or the campaign ends. |
