Shadows... if nothing else, shadows always help to enhance the 3D effect. It's probably also a good idea to add shadows to almost every bulging object on your ships. Makes it more 3D.

HundertzehnGustav 12-02-05 12:50 PM

yar, i see that...
i look at Jujus Fletcher textures and jhust shake my head at mine.

i tried the shadows thing on the bridge Windows a little, subtile, but, if you use the external cam i figure you always take your time to go close for looking...

and where is a shadow, is a light. so i need to put a lighting effect on the "Rings" too

...and all i wanted to change was the Hulls sheme and colour.... :-?
this weelend its time for the "Somers" and the "Flottenbegleiter"

both BEEEEEutiful ships. :D

Marhkimov 12-02-05 12:54 PM

Haha, I know the feeling...

All I wanted to do was to make some Soldati skins. Who knew that I would still be on my first skin after all this time?

It does take forever...

HundertzehnGustav 12-02-05 01:08 PM

ah my friend; did you take the advice to "finish" the skin, and make screensthots of it in the game, and look for problematic spots that you dont like?
saves ya time...

and i, for one, dont care if a picel or two; or tree; look buggy...

main thing is the ship looks good... :yep:

Marhkimov 12-02-05 01:18 PM

Yes, I took your advice. I put my skins in the texture folder. Much faster, thanks for the tip.

I will post new pics shortly.

HundertzehnGustav 12-02-05 01:31 PM

Good, good.
but i gotta say, the pic you have on the other topic, where the soldati is WIP... that skin could jhust stay like that.
hope you go for high resolution; at least 1024 square?

i mean... these ships deserve better than 512... maybe even 2048 LOL

Marhkimov 12-02-05 01:46 PM

Yeah, I know, but I still left it at 512x512 square. It looks good enough from a longer distance. You won't notice anything unless you are 20 meters off of the bow.
