Thanksgiving Dinner
Just for those of you who don't celebrate Thanksgiving, here's a sampling of what our family has each year-
Turkey (this year a 19 pound bird) gravy made with flour and drippings Breaded stuffing with chopped onions (in the past made with oysters) Brussel sprouts (I love 'em drowned in butter) Whole kernal corn Whole baby carrots Yams (sweet potatoes in syrup) Mashed potatoes (real taters, not instant) Mashed rutabegas (turnips) Cranberry sauce Rolls Cherry, blueberry, and pumpkin pies topped with whipped cream. Leftovers usually last 'til the end of the month, we make turkey sandwiches and the classic turkey and rice soup. For more ideas, check out the Food Network- http://www.foodtv.com/ Of course, this sumptuous feast takes place after our annual neighborhood football game (played since 1975). Yours, Mike |

Mike, make sure there's a chair for me, I'm coming over! |
Ahh another pagan holiday...I think Thanksgiving is just a disguise to push turkey and mark the start of an even Bigger pagan holiday...Christmas.I mean come on...why would anyone want to give thanks for anything....we all just crawled out of the sea a little while ago and all of this is just part of the Big plan of evolution...so why would I be thankful?...and to who/ or whom would I be thankful to anyways?
Have a great Thanskgiving and Happy Holidays or Happy evolving. P.S. pass me a some dark meat and a beer bro. :()1: |
I'm doing my first Thanksgiving this year in "the new country."
That sounds some recently discovered alien terrain - which in a way it is. Given who I speak to the different versions of how Thanksgiving came about and what it means vary. However, there are some things, USAmerican or not, that I will be giving thanks for. One of them includes the many real (and in real life) friendships that I have made through the board. My thanks to Neal and his band of workers who keep this place "on patrol." |
Neal,
If I get the job I'm hoping for in Amarillo, I'll give ya a yell! Yours, Mike |
