Problems with installing 1.4 patch.

I DLed the patch and went to install. I get to the page where it asks you (shows you) where its being installed, I click 'next' and get this error:

"This program cannot update the installed version of Silent Hunter III US Download v1.0 to v1.3 because of the following reason:
C:\PROGRAM FILES\UBISOFT\SILENTHUNTERIII\MissionEngine.dll: Unknown version."

Whats all this mean?

Sorry if there is a whole thread dedicated to this kind of stuff, Im just sorta in a hurry, have an appointment to get to soon. Thank you guys!

Just checking a couple of things:

-You downloaded the patch for the US version. Are you sure the game you're running is the US version?

-It also matters if you installed from a disc, or from a download (such as Direct2Drive.) There's a different patch in each case.

-It is best to patch from a fresh install of the game. Patch directly to version 1.4b

Assuming all the above checks out, yes, you are best to dig through the threads on technical issues in order to resolve your problem.

Yes its from the US and yes I installed from a disc. This is the second time I installed it because I uninstalled it a while back when I stopped playing it, could that be the problem?

You´ve downloaded the wrong version, you need the DVD patch, not the "Download" patch.

Yup, that solved it. Thank you. I have another question though, and starting a new thread seems like a waste.

Im on my 1st patrol and I went to my gird location, roamed around for 24 hours and went home (both my objs. getting to the grid and patroling it say 'complete') Now I got back to my port (Brest) and i sailed around there for a little and it wouldnt say "mission complete" so I even parked my Uboat in the same stop that I started in and it still wont say it. Whats going on? Did I not do something I was supposed to do?

Wolfram 11-23-05 12:31 PM

Just so I understand and forgive me for confusion.

You completed mission objectives, now you return to home port. But when you exit patrol you not see the dock or continue message?

Brest was your starting port?

It will not say mission complete when you choose exit patrol it will ask for you to dock at ___ or continue on bottom right of screen that displays mission kills/tonnage?

:lurk:

1.) Don't sail back after only 24h at your assigned grid. Look at your orders as "absolute minimum" requirements.

2.) You never get a "mission complete" message. Just sail back to your base and hit ESC. You should now see the option to end your patrol. You can alwas end a patrol this way but if you're too far away from your base you get a bit of a renown penalty.

I was playing with the assumption that when I get back to port it will say mission over, but now thinking about it that wouldnt be very realistic. heh. I did see those options so I just picked Dock at Brest or whatever, so the mission should be over and I can continue to a new one right?

ParaB 11-23-05 01:11 PM

Yes. Once you see the option to "dock at [base]" you can end the mission (without renown penalty) and start a new one.
