Weak Spots

In several of your screenshots I've noticed that you have weak spots of the ship identified in your ship recog. books. Is this a mod?

If so, what is it called and where can I find it? Is it compatable with the mods I'm currently running?

SH3 Commander 2.3
Harbor Traffic 1.46

Thank you,

It's called 'fullvulmod.zip' and you can find it here.

http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/
in the download section.

The weak spot compartment locations that show up on a ships' page in the recognition manual are built into the game - no mods needed.

However, they only show up once in a blue moon and only if you're at a perfect AOB angle to the target and within lose proximity.

I have personally seen it less than a handful of times since I bought SH3. It does not consistantly show up.

What the Full Vulnerability Mod offers, I can't say.

The issue of compartment details showing or not showing up in the recognition manul has been discussed numerous times on various threads here in the past.

The built-in weak-spot display only appears when you're within 1000m of the target, the target is locked, and your torpedo gyro angle is within a few degrees of 0. When those conditions are met, you'll always get the display.

Not sure how this works for people who play without WO assistance, though.

I play with WO assistance enable (though hadly used. Even under those precise conditions, the compartment selection display does not always show up.

But I'll test this out if I can find the time. :hmm:

Why bother? Just install the mod, it's not like it's unrealistic. Real captains would have had that information at all times, not just when they worked themselves into a perfect position.

Thank you everyone! I'm downloading it as I type.

I'm assuming this will be safe to run with the other mods I have enabled?

Yeah there should be no problem. All it does is replace a couple images with a couple other images, as far as I know.

Cheers, I can't install yet until I return from my current patrol. I'll let you know if it's what I was looking for after I get chance to try it.

As far as I know the mod is basically the product of some guy copying the rarely seen weak spots and transposing them on top of the standard ship identification pages. Its funny when you have this mod installed and get the in-game one simultaneously.

I might also add that I modded this mod so that it matched the darkened pages seen in IUB. If anyone is interested in this I'd be happy to release it with full credit to the original creators plus a little mention for my own efforts.

It would be great to have darkened pages with target hot spots. :) I use the Full Vulnerability mod and the pages are a bit too bright for sure.
