Fist time this has happend (to me)
Was my first patrol on a newly commisioned boat.
Was doing great. Recieved a message about a convoy just south of us headed for the channel. We sailed southward and intercepted easly enough. Only one escort. The escort harrased us a little but we managed to dispatch him easly enough magnetic detonation amidships. Dealt with the larger ships first using torpedoes T3's T2's C3 & 2's sent them down while avoiding getting run over. We surfaced and started in on the little merchants with the deck gun. Two down about 4 to go when all of a sudden they quit firing ! What tha ! I set a target through the binocs and order fire........ nothing. Check the crew and they left the gun :-? I try to move new crew to that position and quess what ?? "Gun cannot be manned during a storm" Well shoot. No torps left, gun down... I turned for the channel and headed home to a lukewarm reception. Dident patrol the assignment and one of those t3's were american .... oops. Ive never been forced off the gun in the middle of using it before. Guess the weather just turned bad during the attack. Sigh... typical :-j Just thought Id share  |
Did it actually look like it got stormy? Were you "rockin' and roll'in?" Sounds a bit strange to me. :shifty:

I hadent really noticed the weather change since I was under the surface for most of the first part of the attack.
Had only been on the guns for about 20 minutes before I got kicked off. Been unable to man the guys many times but never been kicked off before. |
"Wass are you doing, I AM ZE CAPTAIN! Let me FIRE at ze zhip!"
"But herr Kaleun, you will be wet!" |

Yeah, I've had many a time I was not allowed to man the gun, but never tossed off. That could ruin a good day!
