Question about hydrophones
Hi,
Seem to have a recurring problem with hydrophones, sometimes I am unable to rotate the needle while submerged. However the hydrophones still seem to be working (no damage) and my sonarman is reporting multiple contacts. But when I go down there to fiddle the dial it stays locked on 0 degrees. The hydrophones don't have an on/off switch that I can see so I don't know if they have been turned off at some point. Also another issue I try to increase the sound volume by clicking on the "volumen" label and get no difference in volume ever. What do I need to do? Thanks for the help! |
What version of SH3 are you patched up to?
What mods do you have installed? |
I have patch 1.4b and I have the SH3world 3.0 mod installed. I have a couple of other small mods installed for using the nav map etc. but nothing else major.
Thanks! |

BTW, anyone know if World Mod v3 is compatible with SH3 1.4? :-? |
Thanks I'll give that a try. I don't know for sure whether the hydrophones stayed locked prior to installing the WorldMod but I don't think so. As for being unable to increase the volume, that has always been like that, I have to use the volume knob on my PC, which defeats the point if I want to establish a baseline volume for hydrophone range (as one of the hydrophone tutorials suggests).

Volume on hydrophone only works if there some contact to listen at. :dead:
About the frozen needle, is it only the hydrophone that is like this or does the other gaughes in controlroom pointnig straight up? If so, there was this problem with some early mod, so you probably have som mod enabled casuing your problem. I had a problem with Ail's "old navmap" or what's it's called. Can't say why, there's absolutely no logic in it, but that's the way it was. I really like Ail's mods! So please, be more specific to all your mods, and check if also the other gaughs are like I described. |
I doubt World 3 is compatible because it was out before 1.4.
|
That can for sure be the problem :yep:

A tip for adjusting the volume: Since you need to be listening to a contact in order to adjust the volume, point the hydrophone at 180 while moving submerged and you'll hear your own screws. Then you can adjust the volume.

Thanks for the help, I will work out what mods I have installed and remove them, but first the World 3.0 mod. If that fixes the problem then great. I also noticed there is a World 4.0 mod, does this perhaps get around the hydrophone "bug"?
