Powercolor any good?
Some of you may remember my threadss regarding if my monitor is dying or not. Some recommended that it might be the video card. The video card is less than a year old - Abit Radeon RX700-Pro 256MB PCI-Ex. I have decided that if the card is dying that rather than try and fix it, I will get a better (hopefully) card. I have browsed around Newegg and found a Powercolor Radeon X800GT. I'm sure there are better cards, but I really can't afford more than this at the moment.

The X800GT is a nice card! But you should borrow a monitor before you buy the new card, maybe your monitor is broken.

Yep. Take it out of it's wrapping and it's yours even if you didn't mount it.

Don't want ot burst your bubble but the powercolor cards in almost every case are trumped by the oem ATI built cards.
Powercolors are typically considered the economy verison of the regular ATI cards. Make sure to read the benchmarks for the card and compare memory bandwidth/etc to the regular ATI X800GT. For the money you have, I'd rather throw it at this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130231 Now eVGA has a better rep than Powercolor and well the benchmarks speak for themselves. |
Oh damn, this thread isnt about Jihad.
Yawn, I'm outta here. |
