Weird Incident
First post on this forum. I haven't bothered to register earlier, but something happened in SHIII today that I had to tell someone.
So, anyway, I've recently downloaded RUb 1.43 and started a new campaign in 1939. I've done five patrols so far. Two in a Type IIA from Kiel, then I upgraded to a VIIB and transferred to Wilhelmshaven. In my last patrol, in March 1940, I was cruising east of England near the south-east corner of grid AN 58 at full time compression, when, suddenly, an explosion shook the boat. Within seconds, I had flooding in two compartments; forward battery, deck gun, forward deck, radio antenna and both periscopes destroyed; a considerable amount of diesel leaked and a dead radio operator. There were no apparent enemies in the area that could have caused this damage. My first suspicion was a mine, but does anyone have any other toughts on the matter? PS. It belongs to the story that I patched the boat up and only hours later sank a Large Cargo with torpedoes from the surface. |
