Slowing down the WO

I think I've gone full circle, regarding manual targetting. At first, I never used it. Then I learned how to do it, and my accuracy suffered. Then, I practised and learned better techniques, and iIgot better shots. The mods I have installed over time seem to have decreased single ship traffic and increased convoys. It's not easy doing your own math for solutions to convoys, so I have gotten used to using the weapons officer.

Two things happen when I use the WO: 1) his solutions are very accurate, and 2) his math is very fast. I imagine that some people would like to see the WO miss a few shots, but I am not one of them. I miss enough on my own. But maybe it would be something if he didn't crunch through numbers like Superman's Kryptonian auto-dialler. Is there a way to slow the WO down?

I never have used the WO to plot a torp shot :( I just line them up
in scope and fire torps :D Do you have to be at a certain Realism
to use the WO?
Lane :D

Under the realism settings, you get the option to turn the WO on or off. Leaving him on costs you 3% reality, if memory serves. If you turn him off, all of the WO options are ghosted. If you leave him on, you can click on his options (or not) at your discretion. There's never any point in the game where you HAVE to use the WO, as long as you can do the calculations or estimations yourself.

Turn him off/on for Target Indentification. The other larger penalty is option for 'Manual Targeting'.

No way to slow him down, or as they did in SH original, the solution became more accurate with time displayed on a probability to hit bar.

Want to really wank him at making perfect shots? If you know the changes to the SIM files, adjust something like the torpedo speed by one knot, it may throw off his 5000 meter perfect shot. Just make your manual calculations using the real number for speed. I wonder if the game can take this into account. It may since it reads in the data, so he may still use the new speed and hit perfect.

Maybe there is another vairable to offset to mess up the WO at long distance shots. Interesting little WO_Error Mod so he is not guaranteed a hit using him. :hmm:

My WO is a dummy, how do I make him smarter. :hmm:

Oh well I am a bigger dummy then he is so I guess I better take what he gives me.

I believe it's "was gemeaning sie" so says my 3 stooges geman to english Dictionary :|\

Mr.Fleck 10-28-05 03:12 AM

"Was meinst du?" is correct, "Was meinen Sie?" is more polite. So Jungman was right and I guess zombiewolf tried to say it in the polite way, which was slightly wrong.

German courses for wannabe Kaleuns: Sign in here! ... no just kidding ;-)

Jungman 10-28-05 04:15 AM

Ja, the word "Sie" is more personal. I did not want to offend. I learn something new every day, and that makes life fun! :D

I must work on my German past verb tense, ge- : past tense.

But at least I could speak some German when I visit Europe without refering to a dictionary.

My great grandfather is from the "Father Land". :D

I do enjoy the culture of all European countries. :P I wish to visit for my vacation next year. And all that beer! Beck's dark and Hollands Heineken dark ist gut! :yep:

It is happy Holloween here is USA this weekend. I hope all enjoy!

I tried to do something about the uberfast WO last year. I noticed that the solution was created just after the soundfile played, so I tried extending the soundfile (inserting silence) by a number of seconds. Unfortunately, that doesn't work.

The value for this is either hardcoded or somewhere else... Unfortunately it could also be the case that the pause is the same for all commands.

zombiewolf 10-28-05 08:41 PM

I studied German in High school a Bazillion years ago,in a galaxy far far........

Ever tried an "Alsterwasser"?

For On topics sake:
My WO missed a CV yesterday - with a complete 4 torp fan :damn:
...not necessary to mention i got sunk, but it was by a PLANE... Holy Käsekräcker! :damn:

Mr.Fleck 10-29-05 07:20 AM

Hey I like this germ-english here, sounds cool :|\

Maybe we should all use a german speech recognition to slow down the WO. :-j (Don't get me wrong I really appreciate it that you try to speak german)

Kaleun: "One WO Torpedo solution", er I mean "Ains WO Torpedo loosing" em no wasn't it "lösung"?.
"Eins WO Torpedo Lösung" ... Jawohl Herr Kaleun! Ziellösung eingestellt Herr Kaleun.

@Zombiewolf: Ein Guinness für mich auch bitte! Prost!

(Sorry for beeing a bit off topic)
