OK guys.

Due to problems with SHIII crashing, I decided to remove the whole game and re-load it.

I am using the DVD European version and have all the system requirements needed.

This I have done and it runs but when I try to install the 1.4b patch (and any other patch) they will not load and I get the mesage "C:\........\Data\Menu\de-help.txt unknown version.

It is always the same error message.

The patch I am trying to install is the SH3_DVD_1.4b.emea version.

I keep removing the whole thing, re-loading it and it makes no difference, I still can't install the 1.4b patch because of the same error mesage.

What am I doing wrong.

When you remove the game, do you check that nothing at all relating to SH3 is left in the Ubisoft folder? The thing is, clearly the patch is finding a modded or corrupted de-help.txt file in there.

Thank you so much, you were right.

Even though I had removed the software the original "Ubisoft" folder was still there with data in it.

I removed it and everything went according to plan.
