Found this image on another page, where people were scratching their heads what this guy is doing. Anybody got an idea ?

well. hes got a mask and flippers, i guess in case he gets washed overboard cause he doesnt appear to be tethered.

my guess is hes trying to unfoul something. something got hung up around the aft emergency access hatch or towed array housing.

Most likely. Anechoic coatings of some kind have existed since the second world war.

looks like a seal stuck on the seck only thing that worries me is that 16 foot propellor is turning if he falls in he is going to be mince meat i hear propellers have more suck than a dyson vacumme cleaner

Yes, good eyes, that big object behind him, that the sailor is looking at, with the spray coming off of it, does look kind of like a seal. :o
