U-186´s trip to Gibraltar
I`m on my 8th patrol and I decided to try and get thru the Gibraltar surfaced.
Weather report: Winds 13m/s, no rain, light fog. Will I survive? |
i did it during night time whitout problems, but im not sure how it would be during the day,
|
I`ve tried to go thru the Gibraltar once before, then my boat was attacked by RAF and got a straight hit to my stern.
I`ll keep you informed how my trip is going. |
Lol, got under attack by RAF and 2 destroyers just 9km from the east entrance to the Gibraltar and I had to dive and head for the Atlantic. So much for the mediterranian! :rotfl:

Crossing the Gib is no problem, just do it at night and DON'T shoot anything or you will get unwelcome company..and lots of them.

It was stormy day, so I thought it´s no problem and I didnt shoot anyone.
I noticed too late, I was in a path of a destroyer and then came the RAF. |
I tried to sneak through on my last partrol, Mid 1941, I got attacked about 40 Km short of entering the channel by two aircraft who tried to bomb me. They missed me completely though.
I moved away about 20Km and waited submurged for a few hours before surfacing. Then on the next night I started the run again. But would you beleve it... I met the same two planes in the exact same place! 40Km short of entering the channel, "Aircraft spotted Sir!". This time they were too close and I couldn't dive quickly enough. I got a bomb righ on top of the conning tower. Took out my attack scope and flak gun. I decided to quit while I was still alive and fled back out to the open ocean. I had to use my observation scope to attack ships on the rest of that patrol. :( |
