Will the DEV team EVER give us the SDK for this sim?
Now that we all know that 1.4b was or is the last patch for SHIII should we not be asking the DEV team for the keys to this nica porsha :hmm:
It would be nice to see an SDK but I would not hold your breath for it.
As I understood it Ubisoft is using parts of SH3 for other games as wel. That is one reason for not giving the SDK (if they ever will).
I have no clue on what Ubi's stance is on SDKs, but I've seen them released for a few other programs that are rereleased in different versions year after year, using M$' FS2004 as an example. So IF Ubi decides to be let us mod the in-game details (like design new objects or mod boats) through an SDK, then it is possible.
Modability is part of the SH3 design and of course they deliverd the mission editor with SH3. The reason why they do not release the SDK will be because they will not give away value or competitive tools.
With all of the modding break-throughs and discoveries made just over the last month or two....
I wonder if we even need an SDK. :arrgh!: |
what is SDK?
Quote:
Contains coding or password-like protection of software content (like hard-coded files in SH3) Having the SDK would allow for total, as-needed reprogramming. |
:)
Well i hiope the SDK comes out cos i wanna see mods where my crew are on deck smoking
IMHO, I think a better mission editor, anything better than the current mission editor manual (which is purely trash) and more options would make this game better.
SDK, too valuable for the company to share (I think) |
But they could 'protect' it with StarForce so that 'no one' would be able to steal from them :know:
Stupid star force
GRRR! :hulk: |
