How do I get the map updates back after I installed the latest UberMod?

I know it isn't realistic...but I like it.

If the UberMod you are referring to is RUb, the easiest way to do this is to use the UnRealUboat mod. It reverts a few things in RUb, including the God's Eye map.

No need to worry about that. Realism doesn't matter here as long as you're having fun. What's the point in playing if SH3 is going to be boring or overly frustrating for the sake of "realism"? :D

If you are looking for the red squares that are message reports
about ships, convoys and task forces, install the "Daily Contact Report 1.01" It will give you plenty of them....

No,that's not what I want necessarily. I had an unmodded v4.1b game going. I d/l'd and installed Improved UBoat. Now when I am in the TDC view (the one with a map and the ability to change torpedo running depth etc. gyro angle etc..which I think is the TDC) I only see the ship type in letters..no red square, no indication of where the ship actually is.

I don't want red squares to appear all over the map, slowing the game down.

I think so, as long as you only install the "MapUpdate" section of UnRUb. The removal of God's eye map updates was a part of Real Uboat, which is a part of Improved Uboat. So installing only the "MapUpdates" section of UnRealUboat should restore map updates without any other conflicts. Other sections of UnRUb may conflict with Improved Uboat, so I wouldn't suggest installing the whole thing.
