Interesting; As the war goes on-

I'm finding that ships seem "harder" i.e. they take more damage than earlier years. Especially DD/DE's.

And single ships are becoming scarce.

I've selected my crew carefully. After this patrol, we take command of a Type XXI, and with that, we make for America.

If I recall correctly, the amount of damage that a ship can take is based in part on the skill of the crew, presumably simulating improved damage control measures by more skilled crews. That would especially make sense with the escorts.
