Long time, no see :)

Hello everyone,
I've been recently quite busy finishing this and that (including my PhD) and although I've got my own copy of DW I didn't have much time to play it. Ok, I played one or two missions but that's about it :(
Now, my question is would anyone be so kind to update me on the add-ons, mods, doctrine changes etc ? Last time I visited this forum (in March, AFAIR) there was rather hot discussion concerning "the distance vs. noise vs. detectability problem" and that's the point at which I had to start writing my thesis leaving DW-related issues practically untouched.
I would be grateful for some info about these new features.

Cheers,

Pole

well v 101 has come out were waiting for DWX and amazuir and luftwolf have a sound mod

After patch 1.01 was released, SCS released a sound-speed "hotfix" that increased the noise levels of subs in a linear fashion up to 10 points higher than their base noise when at flank speed. It was a crude fix, but still dramatically improved gameplay.

That's all we've got from them.

As for mods, DWX is on hold until the 2nd patch.

Luftwulf and Amizaur are working on a mod, which is beginning to reach maturity. The mod features increased noise level sensitivity to speed, two-state SS-N-27 ASMs, a "salvo doctrine" for the AEIGIS ships, the removal of the feature causing torpedoes to detonate on CMs, the removal of "hard limits" on detection ranges (resulting in detection ranges being the product of contact speed and acoustic conditions rather than fixed parameters), etc. It's a very promising mod that removes or mitigates many of the problems with DW that we have been waiting forever to be patched. (For complete info, the readme is posted on subguru.com on the downloads page)

Yes, I fetched some files for DW from your site soon after I bought the game. Now, there are many more I need to figure out what are they and what they do :P (especially the sound mods).

Cheers,

Pole
