MH60R and merging contacts.

What a wonderful platform the MH60R is.

It can monitor up to 16 bouys at a time. I has an incredible dipping hydrophone. It even has MAD... cool.

Problem is I have maybe 3 or 4 contacts of the item of interest giving me a rough estimate of the area.

Is there no way to merge these contacts to refine the solution ? I read the section in the manual about the chopper and did not see any explination on how to do it for that platform.

Help please :)

The airplatforms (MH60 and P3) have no TMA so you cannot merge contacts.

The most useful way of pinpointing a target in these platforms is with triangulation from three or more buoys.

If you have a bearing contact, drop buoys on either side of the hot one, then once you get crosses, drop buoys on the other sides of the crossover points of the bearing lines (note, they will usually have bearing errors and not be exact). Once you've done that, you've got him and you can use MAD passes to refine the plot or just fire from there. :arrgh!:

What I ended up doing was getting the "triangulation" as you mention then pinged with the dipping sonar, marked, assigned, and launched on snake pattern... BOOOM

Thing is the contact was never positively identified as hostile submarine.

On a side note in the mission results I noticed "Destroy FFG.... " incomplete.. I guess that was for the bad guys ?

Yes, often there will be triggers or "goals" in the mission status section that need to be incomplete at the end or you fail the mission or lose points.
