Pardon me for asking but are these colors based on real torpedoes?

Come to think of it, what color were real torpedoes? Green? Gray?

Yes it is :)

Initial G7A torpedo's.

Found a picture of a crew loading a G7A in a Type VIIB 1939.

Look at this B&W pic. You can't tell from this pic. :nope:

If anything, it shows the main body of the torpedo being a light metalic color (steel?) and the front a dark color.

There's also a color picture, showing a fully greased torpedo being loaded but you can't make out the color under the grease.

What was the color of the torpedoes in the movie Das Boot? I seem to recall them being green. :hmm:

that mod looks sweet

There are a whole variaty of color schemes around. Well anyway they look exactly as they do on the picture. :know:

Here's a pic that looks just like yours. It's a Japanese torpedo, at Pearl Harbor.

Of interest is this page. Scroll to the bottom. That could easily translate from the B&W pic I linked to before.

Seems a shame to waste them on ships after all that polishing, but I suppose I will. :)

Now they look as expensive as they were!

Thanks!

Kai

Here's another real torpedo pic from the Munich Museum. This, too, conforms with the shades shown in the B&W pic. Looks pretty authentic, actually.

Now we need to ask what did the developers base their color schemes on?

Update: The torpedo in the Chicago Museum's U-505 exhibit has a dulled steel body with a green/blue head, pretty much what in-game.

I tell ya, the picture description says : A German u boat crew is loading a pre-war steam torpedo.

(* a color picture *)

btw its a color picture. Will look for the book. I still have it somewhere. :ping:

The Avon Lady 09-12-05 07:19 AM

Is it this color pic?

And note your book says "pre-war".
