Volume knob
There was a discussion in the other forum about using the volume knob in the hydrophone. I always use the hydrophone with its volume turned up as far as it will go.
Is there any advantage to listening to the hydrophones at lower volumes? If there is no advantage, is there a way to modify the hydrophone so that the volume is already at max? Thanks! |
I can hear the faint tickity-tickity-tickity... or 'moth fluttering'... of a very long range sound contact... even before it get's within AI sound range... by turning the volume all the way up.. can't do it on middle or low volume...
But, I don't think that hydro volume can be configured to permanently stay on high volume.. Cordialement, Duke of Earl |
me i just wish the hydro-phone needle would stay where i left it when i leave and return to the room :damn: :ping:
you could tho reduce the volume of the amb_hydrophone sound file in the data sound folder (this is what ive done as the whole buisnes of ressetting the volume and the needle each time i enter and use the manual hydrophone station gets to be irritating to say the least |
Me too CB, it is annoying as you say to keep resetting it. when I do a quick scan I use the mouse to click on a point on the dial then the needle scans to that point, I then scan from side to side using the mouse.

I haven't tried it, but maybe the hydrophone needle would stay put if you removed the crewman from the hydrophone post... |

it's awkward job in the fog especailly where i'm hopping from the hydrophone to the bridge and back constantly- trying to see the ships before they see me!! :damn: must admit these days if it's foggy i don't chase the ships unless it's a convoy and there's some hope the fog will lift...(?) |
