Dynamic Shadows?
Has any one tried this, and does it make a difference
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\SilentHunterIII\data\Cfg\main change dynamic shadows from a no to a yes |
No, what are the differences and effects?
|
I cant seem to notice any difference either way. I was hopeing someone else or a modder could tell me
|
I just tried it and didn't notice any difference either, I have a Radeon 9800 XXL graphics if that's anything to go by.
|
The code is most likely disabled.
You can see what was intended by closely watching the movie that plays on the main menu screen. |
I also don't see any differences...
But it's a shame that the ships/uboats don't have shadows over the sea waves. Rubini |
They show green shadows on the crew members, specially on deck. As said above, it seems is a not enabled/finished feature.
|
Shame this wasnt finished. Shadows can make all the difference.
Maybe it was decided our PC wouldnt run it smoothly, so they left it out. Much like the ability to change resolution. Of course even though im running at 1280x960 with 16km and all high res textures, its nice of them to tell us that we wouldnt be able to run it smoothly in standard format. |

Many sites I read say that the most strenuos thing for even the newest video cards to render are shadows. And dynamic shadows would really put many video cards to the stress test. |
Indeed they can cause a lot of FPS issues, but there are still many games out there with them.
It would be nice to have a resolution choice and such things as shadows for the future life of the game. |

I have the Dirty game of Coling McRae , and my geForce 8800GT dont have problems with the framerate , see the photos below to check the realistic effect of the Shadows ,I hope in the future someone can develop a mod about the dinamic Shadows http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z...Rae-DIRT-1.jpg http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z..._dirt_2610.jpg http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z...raedirt_1a.jpg |
Try changing the setting here.....
C:\Documents and Settings\**USER**\My Documents\SH3\data\cfg\main.cfg DynamicShadows=No to Yes |

..and you will see nothing changed!:damn: Kind regards |
Hummmm resurrected necro-thread :hmm:
but anyway.... I enabled it long ago on an old NVidia card and I noticed a difference: Some textures corrupted into lime green colour and strange bright metal refelctions appeared :damn: So there is something working there after all, though probably very unfinished and not worth it. |
Thank you for the answers , it seems is a not finished feature , each thing have the dark and bright side in the SH3/4 game but dont have shadows
