how can I add a 37 mm flak (conn. tower #1) to IXc and IXd2?
 

Hello,
I'm a big fan of the type IX uboat models, and I'm currently playing with a IX d2 sub.
I use, also, the type 1 conning tower.
Is there a way to add to the light flak gun the 37 mm heavy flak in the IXd2 and IXC models, using conning tower type 1, like on the IXB?
In fact the conning tower type 1 says, in the description while in port, one light aa gun and one heavy flak, but I do not see the option to add an heavy flak with the IXd2 and IXc models.
Historically I've seen pictures of the IXd2 type uboat with (also) a 37 mm flak.
I guess this should not be to difficult to add, but i do not know where to look at or what to add to the files.......

Probably nobody knows. Maybe it just isnt implemented into the game, because most of us are playing with newer conning towers.

I haven't tried this, but i think there are options to do so.

open basic.cfg in data/roster

find this entry:

and change A01=8 to A01=4
The "4" is for the 37mm C30, "3" would be for the M42 Single and "2" for the M42 Twin.

But i do not know, if it works.

I thing that the correc place to change this is in the .eqp file

I concur re edit your Basic.cfg and re-edit the date and year to whatever you like.

I'm sorry to bump this very old topic, but I was never able to add the heavy flak gun to the conning tower type 1 on the IX u-boat (on the IXC and the IXD2)---see the first post.
Can anybody help?

You cant use a small conning tower that only uses the Light flack and replace it with a heavy flack. Not enough Men in the compartment for 1 and the node is in the wrong spot plus its named the wrong type. Now you can change all that but if you dont also edit the nodes COORDs (X,Y,Z) position then the Heavy Flack gun will be half way through the railing at the back of the conning tower. The easiest and best solution is just get the Conning tower that allows you to mount a heavy flack gun, its just simpler in the long run. If you are using a Conning tower that allows a heavy flack but its not available, then its either still to early for that type (date wise) of flack gun or somehow you files a screwed. Make sure you click on the little orange triangle at the bottom of the Flack gun selection list to see all available types.

When I mentioned to add the heavy flak to the conning tower type #1, I was not aiming to replace the light flak with the heavy flak.
In game, if you select a type IXB when it is first available (1940), you get the conning tower #1 with a light flak (on the tower) AND a 37 mm heavy flak (on the bridge).
If you look on upgrade menu, under the conning tower #1, you see:
1 gun
1 light flak
1 heavy flak.
The problem is that if you upgrade from the sub type IXB to a type IXC (and later IXD2), you still have the option to use the conning tower #1 (as for the IXB), but only with the light flak gun (no more the 37 mm heavy flak on the bridge).
As I said, I have seen pictures of IX boats with a single light flak on the conning tower, and an heavy flak on the bridge.

The sub is a IXD2 with the conning tower model 1.
You can see that, on the bridge, the area (red marked) where the heavy flak gun is supposed to be is clearly visible.
