Pascal's Smoke Mod

Can anyone point me toward Pascal,s Smoke Mod.

I think its the best available.

Thank you in advance.

Please don't direct me to http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/.
I haven't registered because although the idea is to protect modders (honorable.... I don't know) I am not aware of how the registrants are being protected.

hello!
I don't understand what makes you hesitate using Terrapin's site http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/.

It's a excellent site and you have nothing to worry about. The new thing is that you have to register and login. It takes maximum 5 minutes to do so.

In http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/. you find the mod under the link: SH 3 Downloads, then Silent Hunter 3 (General sektion) and then the mod is named "PascalSmoke(1.4 ready).7z

Just a walk in the park :|\

If you still hesitate the file is in .7z format and is only 438.9 kb so I can email it to you. Just PM me and I'll send it to you.

Good luck!

Rulle34,

Until today I have not hesitated to Terrapin's site. I have been there often, as recently as yesterday, I have found it informative, entertaining and a great, no fantastic, source of Mods for SH3.

I have nothing but respect for Terrapin and all the Modders who spend their valuable time and talents to make my SH3 experience so enjoyable.

My recently acquired hesitation is a result of the registration that Terrapin now requires to access the download section. I understand he is attempting to protect the intellectual property of the Modders, but I am concerned about the security of the information that I and others are providing. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you how vulnerable this information is.
Before I supply any personal info (e-mail, passwords and any other sensitive info),I would like to have some assurance that it is being protected. Seems every time I turn around some one is asking me too many questions about myself and I wonder why and where is this info going and who is using it. Call me paranoid.

By the way I found Pascal’s Smoke hiding in a previously unknown folder, and have placed it in JSGME.

Thank you for your concern

Dear paranoid, ;)

The information for which terrapin is asking is not something I would usually consider "personal" such as a Social Security number (for U.S. folks), driver's license, passport, credit card information, etc.
  • - Name: Use your initials
    - Username: No problem - use a handle like "waste gate"
    - Password: No problem - make one up you use only for this site.
    - e-mail: No problem - that's why I have a spam filter.
FWIW, I believe and trust terrapin protects this information to the best of his (and his ISP's) ability; however, I generally assume there is no assurance that any information is completely safe, be it given at a website or on a credit/loan application. In this case, I believe the risk of ID theft or other such mischief is minimal, given the lack of financial or other critical identification information that is being given to terrapin's site.

Hope this helps.

Pablo

Hmmm, when you've downloaded anything in the past, your IP was logged anyway - and THAT is a really sensitive information. You've agreed to our logging policy by clicking on any download link.

The user registration process is just another additional measure...basically an advice of my company's lawyers. I don't want to talk about the details in public, some known mod thieves are scanning this forum (but - hopefully - are banned completely for now at my place)...

Now, @OSSI: I'm awaiting your next idea. :)

I was not aware of this. I did not wish to cause a great controversy, I was only concerned of privacy issues. In my country my constitutional Fourth Amendment rights are being erodded on a daily basis. Soon we will be like Europe where no privacy is a way of life and no one questions it.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated.

Almost anything you do on Internet can be logged if someone want to!

wastegate - I like your Benjamin Franklin quotation - albeit spelled incorrectly.

If you want proper browsing anonymity - set up a chain of proxies...that makes it very difficult to be traced. In this context, Terrapin is correct, malicious sites can gather significant information about you without needing your registration details. Heck, if you must, use a fake name and arbitrary email account, problem solved.

Well, up to now I've liked and used Terrapins site. I have nothing against the info the site is requesting, after all it's out there anyway. My gripe to this is the actual Efficiency of the "login" system.
Yesterday when confronted with the new request I submitted like normal
and proceeded to wait and wait for an e mail response-never happened.
Just now I went to the site, re-submitted the info giving a secondary e mail address and rcvd an email confirmation immediately. Great!
I clicked on activation link was advise account was activated, Great.
I click on "SH3 downloads" section and was advised no account/need to login/etc, etc.
Did this multiple times with same response.
This is not the first time one of these login sites has messed me around and I know it won't be the last.
Thinking the site doesn't like me anymore-will stick with rapid share or Neals site I guess. Trouble is I'm looking for the mod to adjust gun reload times and its been deleted from rapid share. Guess i'm sol.

Terrapin, it took a bit to find the Login box on the front page. You might want to work on making it more obvious?
