Compress old files?

I've been wondering this for a while. Every week I run Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter. Disk Cleanup has compressed quite a few older files now. Could having compressed files that are associated with SH3 affect it in any way? I'm just wondering if that could be the cause of some of my weird game crashes. :-?

I have been doing the same thing once or twice aweek but have had no problems here. (Touch wood)

Why would you run disk defrag and cleanup once a week?

I only do It once a month

I do it to keep things "tidy." The longer you wait to run disk defrag, especially if you moved a lot of files, the longer it takes. Right now, if I don't move a lot of files, it only takes a couple minutes.

Running a defrag is a good idea if you install or uninstall alot of files. A highly fragmented drive will slow down its performance. Diskeeper Lite if still available is a free defrag program that I feel is a bit better than than the default one that comes with XP. I defrag about 2 or 3 times a month and have yet to have a problem with any of my drives.[/quote]
