Does the anti-sonar coating work?
I upgraded to it because I would have in real life, but Im curious to know how well it worked(if at all) before I start putting it to the test against on coming convoy...especially that damn pinger in the front of the convoy.
|
It seems to, but kind of slightly. I forget the exact factor, but it only makes enemy sonar a little bit less efficient - not the massive difference you might expect.
I've been bombed with and without it... I guess it depends on what you're up against. |
Boy I sure hope it works I just had my 1XB coated with it. ;)
|
 If it doesn't, you going to scrape it off?
|
It works, like CCIP said. Its more efficient in 42, because enemy sonars arent so good than in later part of the war.

If you do decide to use the Alberich, remember to use the proper, black coating (skin) that NZ_Wanderer has provided for us:

How can the quality of sonars degrade with new technology?

I think he means that it's more efficient in '42 because the sonars are less efficient than later in the war....that's how I read it.
|
The U.S. Navy liked it so much they have been using various forms of it on thier subs for years. It wasn't operational though until the '90s after the Soviets (at the time) started coating all their subs with it.

In my personal experience it does seem to help some. But it is hard to put a quantitave number on it.
Too many variables to make a positive assesment. Like I said it "seems" to help. I would assume it was otherwise include it in the game other than a money (renown) sink. Im sure someone here will dissect the data files and tell us. |
