Died again.

Captain Dieter Keppler and the fine crew of the U-51 perished in the North Channel early in the morning on October 12th, 1941. Information is sketchy at this time, but news reports from the Brits suggest U-51 was caught during a very successful attack on a convoy. It was foggy, and it appears a Dido class cruiser snuck up in her baffles, and ran her right over.

No radio reports were recieved, nor are there reports of any survivors.

All U-boats are advised to beware of the presence of cruisers in that vicinity, and if possible, to send them to the bottom!

(Never even made it to my beloved XXI this career! :( )

A toast to Deiter, he was a good man.....yah, I remember meeting him in Munchen, 1938 I believe......we talked of the future, if war would come......(sigh).......well, we sail in two days, I'd best check on the boat, it will be good to keep my mind busy and not think of such things.......

The captain and crew of the U-93 wish to express their condolances to those left on dry land, who will never again see their loved ones steam into bay.

Hopefully, my new Captain, Joachim Keppler, does better than his older brother did. ;)

"There are no roses on a sailors grave,
No lilies on an ocean wave,
The only tribute is the seagulls' sweeps,
And the teardrop that a sweetheart weeps."

U-49 sends there condolences. We wish you find peace beneath the waves.

Maybe it was U-15, I think Dietrich was dyslexic. ;)

I'd like to make a demand, on behalf of the mourning families, that all u-boats in that area, in the fall and winter of 41 and later, report to this thread upon sinking a Dido. :arrgh!:
There shall be vengeance! :rotfl:

Uboat sailors never "fully" die, they are just reincarnated into the future where computers become there new weapon and Silent hunter 3 there war

Kapitänleutnant Maximilian Wiethoff and the entire crew of U-52 salute the perished mates of U-51. Mögen Sie in Frieden ruhen.
