You know you play too much SHIII

...when

...your wife sitting next to you in the car and reading a map - when she says turn left, you answer with "Yawohl Herr Kaleun, zwei sieben nul Grad tragend"

Duli 08-08-05 12:23 PM

LOL, thats a good one. Did this really happen to you? :D

The worst is when the local WWII historical flight guys fire up their vintage planes and fly within eye sight of the house....they're so close you can actually read the numbers.

I expect to hear a watch officer say "aircraft spotted".

For a while I would get a "knee-jerk" turn of the head.

BTW, I'm south denver metro area for those who are wondering.

erm ....yus

Also when i turn off the engine of the car - I yell out "Alle machinen schtop!" :rotfl:

Teufelschiff 08-18-05 10:01 AM

Oh man, I hear you.

I stepped out of the shower this morning and the steam exhaust ceiling fan cover was slightly loose and running with a fast "kachung kachung kachung kachung" sound.

I thought to myself, "...hmm that sounds like my VIIB surfaced at ahead flank speed."

Then again quickly to myself, "...wow, oh my god."

Takeda Shingen 08-18-05 10:27 AM

Or you wake up yelling "flugzeug beschmutzt!"

It's like the brothel scene in Das Boot, when the phone rings at the bar, and Thomsen shouts "Alarm!"

Edit: I live within the Willow Grove NAS air circle (which may become meaningless very soon). After SH3, hearing the planes overhead does make me a little jittery.

Zie Chuckinator 08-18-05 11:03 AM

I live an hour away from Groton CT, naval base.

oh and in the town i live in, there is a small airport about a dozan or so km from my house. sometimes planes come in realy low and i end up shouting "ALARM!!!!"

and when i play soccer, before i kick the ball, i sometimes yell "For eins, LOS!" and every1 looks at me :rotfl:

I work on the Naval Base in Norfolk Va. and watch the merchant ships come and go in the channel. Always thinking AoB and what that ship would look like with a couple of fish in her side.

When you're sitting in class, bored all to hell...

And you doodle a convoy in the middle of your paper, select various positions for your u-boat, and start plotting your attack.

Caught myself doin' it in commercial tax the other day...

While playing SH3 i hear a plane and it takes a while to figure out if its in the game or a real one .

Dowly 08-19-05 05:16 AM

When I`m making coffee, there`s the meter that shows how much water you`ve put in. If I`m alone I usually "report it to Kaleun". It`s just like the water level meter in U-boot, the thing that has the other thing inside it that moves along with the water. Man, I`m not good at explaining things, am I? It`s the "tube" in the middle of the guys who operate the diving planes.

Duli 08-19-05 08:08 AM

I know, what you mean, that thing, thats showing the Periscope height and water around it. I dont recall, how its called, but I know what you mean.

Kaleun 08-19-05 08:25 AM

Hi,

I think the gauge youy are talking about is call a "Papenburg" tube/gauge

Kaleun

I live near Okecie airport and jetplanes doesn't fit to SH3 :D but I'm singing or whistling "It's a long way to Tipperary" all the time. I think that soon I will need to find another job - everybody is staring at me
