Return to base?????

Ok, I'm new to SH III, I'm in the training missions, training on the deck guns, when I sink all the ships I get the message that I've passed the requirements, and return to base.

How do I return to base? I push the escape key, and return to the
previous screen, quitting the mission, but when I get here, it says that I was unsatisfactory in this mission, what am I doing wrong?

Thanks

I always sail back to port. Come to full stop near the quay (where the band is). And then press escape. Always get full points.

But I believe getting as near as a few miles near port will do the trick as well.

I do too -- except for St Lorient ;)

Ok, how do I find the port it's not marked on the nav map?

He is in Training, I doubt there is a port.

Lol, forgot all about that. Training is different.

Normally you should follow orders (check the "orders screen") and keep checking for radio messages.

You will get a message when your task is about completed.

In regular missions:
Upgrade to 1,4 and have the port in detail on the map at a proper zoom level.

Once you are within the lighthouses, you can safely press "Save and exit" and then "Dock at: <portname>"

In training missions, just press esc. :D

I think if you get within 30km from base, you can exit and get full renown for returning to base.

Training missions should end automatically when you have completed them. Or at least you'll get a pop-up window asking if you want to quit now or later(?).

So just go to time compression for a while, or at least wait until you get the pop-up window. It sometimes take a while, if I remember correctly.

RevRaz 08-08-05 12:48 PM

Nope, you have to hit ESC.

Not for all of them, I'm pretty certain.

I remember I took out the ships in 'wrong order' on one of the missions. I completed the primary objective first, and the mission quit and I didn't get a chance to complete the secondary objectives to get a full score. So I did the mission again, this time doing the secondary objectives first. Then the mission quit when I completed the primary objective and I got a full score... :ping:

Doubtfull, it probably said Mission Completed but it didn't return you to base automatically.

And, FYI, the key to access the radio message screen is "M". I was really confused when I was in the Naval Academy until I figured that one out (especially on the Navigation lesson).

ROWEN1957 08-08-05 08:35 PM

Ok, the mission doesn't end automatically, I sailed around in circles after the sucessful completion box popped up, I the pressed escape, and return to base, and still it says unsatisfactory .
:hulk:

Ending any training mission submerged will always result in a failure regardless of step completion. Were you on the surface when you tried to exit ?
