Kriegsmarine Capital Ships Skin Set [DOWNLOAD] + Type34c
Ok, sorry for long delays, but things have been in the way, including a full format HDD and other things. So, now I'm back (for a time being anyway!) and releasing the promised Bismark, Tirpitz and Prinz Eugen skins. Download Link at the bottom.
Just pasing here my README bit, to save some time with typing: "Kriegsmarine Capital Ships" Skin Set by Type941 For Silent Hunter III PC, August 1, 2005 -----------........-....-.-.---------......--------------- Skin History The download includes 7 skins in total for 2 SH3 Ships - Bismarck and Hipper. INCLUDED: 1. KMS Bismarck 1939-40 - Early War skin, light grey hull and superstructure, plain teak deck. Resized portholes & less rust (for all Bismarck class including this one) 2. KMS Bismarck 1941 - Baltic - the famous striped camouflage, left unedited as far as position (in real life - different) due to texturing abilities of SH3 for this model. has swastika in white square, no red flag around it, and the deck is full teak as well. 3. KMS Bismarck 1941, May 23 onwards - Final part of operation Rhinebung, painted over camouflage, leaving only the fake wave. Should only be on bow, but again because of how the model is textured, it's also at the stern. Still, look good. Deck has grey painted over the swastika, rest is teak. 4. KMS Tirpitz 1941. The dark grey on bow/stern similar to what Tirpitz had in 1941. 5. KMS Tirpitz 1942. Not entirely accurate, but looks ok from the distance - the striped, Norway-type camouflage for Tirpitz. The following camouflage variations applied toTirpitz with AA guns on turret, hence this one is most accurate if you want the big striped version. 6. KMS Prinz Eugen 1941 - Baltic. Same as Bismarck, the striped livery applicable to the period of war games in the Baltic. 7. KMS Prinz Eugen 1941 - Denmark Strait. Accompanied Bismarck on her fatal mission, this skin has stripes painted over and front/back dark grey hull bits are lightened up. For Hipper class, the portholes are also resized, but I left the rust unchanged, as it looked to have been on some pics of the original ship. KNOWN ISSUES: The portholes on Hipper in some places are a bit cut off due to texture mapping - if you find a way to fix it - do by all means. It's not very noticeable unless you view the portside or starboard very closely. I left it as is, due to a possible inability to further work on the ship in near future, and I want to release it asap. To me, it's not a big deal. If it really bothers some purists - please, fix it up! May be not entirely realistic, I just wanted the ships to look better. Perfect is not possible - there is nothing perfect in the world! :) For JGSME users, it should be very easy to install, and switch through between the skins. I recommend doing it with the mod manager, but of course you can do the usual tedious copy/paste the Data folder into SH3 dir. the Download includes a separate folder called REAMDE and it has the TXT file and the pictures of each ship in slightly better detail. This is the preview of all of them in one go: http://img45.imageshack.us/img45/3018/allpreview6in.jpg File Size: 7MB Download from Rapidshare: DOWNLOAD Kriegsmarine Capital Ships Skin Set -- @ Terrapin - I have trouble getting to your front page! If you can do it now - could you upload it yourself? Otherwise I'll have to come back to this later, as it's not bringing me to front page.. [/quote] --------------------------------- Type34C Destroyer - get it at Terrapin's site once it's live, as well as from here, though please test the rapidshare file and tell me if it works - I'm not sure if the upload was smooth... Terrapin's site shuold be good though. Very nice!
Can anyone compile detailed instruction on how these differents skins should be installed with SH3 Commander? |
Great work!
In one or two days a new release of traffic mod will arrive with Bismarck, Prinz Eugen and Tirpitz with great historical accuracy. These ships will be docked in Harbours with the correct historical dates and will be seen in trials and in Operations. I, Sixx_Killer and irishred have made a few radio calls to these operations. New traffic in ports where these ships stay anchored (Danzig, Hamburg and Trondheim) is made too. So, your work is very, very wellcome!! Rubini. |
That's great Rubini, glad it will be used and seen by u-boat captains around the world.
PS: Feel free to use my Home Fleed skin set as well for all those british battleships. ;) |
This is great stuff!
To put this in SH3 Commander 1.43, players can do the following: First, extract the RAR file to a convenient place. Then open the Kriegsmarine_Capital_Ships folder and rename the folders as follows: "Bismarck1939_LightGrey" becomes "19390901" "Bismarck1941_Baltic" becomes "19410206" "Bismarck1941_DenmarkStrait" becomes "19410418" "PrinzEugen_Baltic" becomes "19410205". "PrinzEugen_DenmarkStrait" becomes "19410417" "Tirpitz_1941" becomes "19410428" "Tirpitz_1942" becomes "19420527" Then place each of these folders in the 'Date' folder inside SH3 Commander. Some files (older Bismarck stuff) will be overwritten. The discrepancies in the dates (most of the above dates are a month early) exist because of the way the game handles career files. There is a delay of a month between the date when you're in port between missions (which is the date that SH3 Commander reads) and the date of the next patrol. So a paint scheme loading on 5 February 1941 (19410205) will be seen in the career only after 5 March 1941. The only problem with this is that single missions do not have this same month-long gap, so players have to be aware of this when setting up single missions. In an earlier thread, Type941 kindly gave permission in advance for these skins to be included in SH3 Commander, so future versions will include these as standard. |

A nice site about the Bismarckhttp://www.kbismarck.com/
http://www.kbismarck.com/a21bismarck040.gif Bismarck's appearance from March to May 1941 during the sea trials in the Baltic Sea. The battleship was painted with this camouflage pattern during the winter of 1940-1941. This included three angled black and white stripes over the hull and superstructure, with the ship's ends in dark grey and false white waves. For aerial recognition, swastikas were painted on the stern deck and breastworks over red banners, and dark grey was applied to the top of the main and secondary batteries. http://www.kbismarck.com/a21bismarck041fiord.gif The Bismarck as she looked when entering the Korsfjord in Norway on 21 May 1941. The cutters, yawls, and dinghies on both sides of the upper main deck were removed before the start of Operation Rheinübung. The bow anchor on the stem was removed as well. http://www.kbismarck.com/a21bismarck041.gif The Bismarck in May 1941 as she looked during Operation Rheinübung after leaving the Korsfjord in Norway. The black and white stripes of the hull were painted over while in Korsfjord on 21 May 1941. This is how the Bismarck looked like during the engagement with the battle cruiser Hood (swastikas covered). |
HERR VADER - I think you are a bit late. I've gone through all those pics before, and what I made is pretty much the final version without any more changes. The pic from kbismark on frong page is exactly like I have in the download too. ;)
Here it is. http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/1...ckearly7zd.jpg Oh, and use Imageshack.us for hosting pics, right now I see a blocked pic message. 3 times. :|\ |
See the top of this page for the Type34C upload. ;)
