why do the bow plane retract?
ive noticed that my bow planes on the akula retract when ever i go to flank just this minet a go i was trailing a type 206 german submarine on an exersize when i felt i trailed enough i decided to go deep and barrel away, making depth for 440 meters at 35 knots i knoticed the bow planes on gepard retracted why is this ?

Bow/fore planes are not needed at high speed.
Last think you want is for them to jam to dive or loose hydraulics when your going flat out close to max depth   Can't say i've noticed them auto retracting on the Akula though. |
yeah they do but thanks and no i dont want them jammin lol :o

IRL they also cause substatial flow noise at high speed. Just another good reason for them not to be out. Not sure if this is modeled well in the game. SOunds like another test is in order :smug:

Hi
For the Seawolf flownoise is modelled, in a way. I don't know if you make more noise and is easier to pick up for others with bow planes out, but they affect your own hull sonars if deployed. Unfortunately a small bug seems to be connected to this. I reported it in the patch thread long ago. Hopefully patch 1.02 catch this one as well. From the patch thread. Quote:

its not annoying me all that happends is that when running at flank i do a turn hard turn and fire a fish i start diving :o and its scary when at max depth !
