Someone asked about this possible(?) mod the other day, and it definitely is something everybody could use in one way or another.

Why not take an approach that is much easier.

Add new chapters and pages to the ships ID book and/or F1 help screen.

I tried to add a speed, distance time table to the F1 help. While it was possible to make the page and make it clickable I came to a dead end when the text would only support two columns.

Your idea about the recognition manual is interesting...

So far, people have made new slidable and functional compasses and dials. I believe from scratch...

Would it be possible to "clone" the recognition manual and make a reference book to sit on the nav map screen, multiple pages etc. You could have the data entered as text, or "fix the data onto a tga" and have graphic text on each page.

i want it so much i'l bump this .

wish i could do more :88)

the concept is good, i think it can be got to work, but the people you need to ask if they want to do it, are the guys that do things like the huge clickable compass that came out recently. They seem to know how to get things working like that.

I would sooooooooooooo use this.

Shadow9216 07-18-05 12:14 PM

That would be killer!
:hmm: here's another thought...perhaps excerpts from the U-Boat Commander's Handbook could be included? Or our own version of it. But give it the same title, look, etc as the original?

Soviet_Warlord 07-18-05 02:00 PM

Is anyone actually working on this? I have heard lots of praise given to the concept of the idea, but not to any work in progress. Can I expect any mod to be produced from this idea? If not, I'm not coming back to this thread. :nope: :P
:-j

Vader 1 07-18-05 06:26 PM

Actually we revived the thread to stir intrest in to have someone modding it. Other threads talked about what was next on list so here ya go, plus as seen here there is a lot of interest.
keep posting we will ware them modders down ;) (just a friendly joke)
but pls if someone with these talents could begin to take a look at it .

I would love this mod. Unfortunately, while I can work develop databases and code financial apps with no problem, I have no skills when it comes to this kind of work.

melinjkpg 07-19-05 05:22 AM

I bump for that...great idee
