Deck gun 30 second reload time.

Howdy everyone, first post here.

Basic info: USS DRUM Gato Class

I'm encountering an issue in my SH4 FOTRS game, the deck gun (in this case the 5inch) takes 30 seconds between shots to reload. Glassy seas and I even tell my crew to man the gun/battlestations.

I have experience in modding my own games but would have no idea where to look for this games' data. :k_confused:

Really I'm just looking for why it would be taking the gun THAT long to reload between shots.

Run JSGME, click on "Tasks..." in the middle, then "Export activated mods list to..." and "Clipboard" to paste it immediately into your next post, or "Text file" to copy & paste it later. That will show your install path, and the mod list order. Did you empty the Save folder after activating FotRSU? Do you have people from the Damage Control Team assigned to gun positions? Do you go to Battle Stations to use the guns? :salute:

Yep, in my post above I said that I put them on battlestations and everything.

Here's some of that info from JSGME:

Generic Mod Enabler - v2.6.0.157
[D:\Games\Silent Hunter 4 Gold Edition\MODS]

100_FalloftheRisingSun_Ultimate_v1.8
FI-OQ_FotRSU_v1.8f_upcPatch
Fleetboat_Interior-Officers_Quarters_FOTRSU_v1.7_EN

I hate being Captain Obvious, but be sure you have crew assigned to the deck gun in crew management. Putting them at GQ won't help if that station is empty.

They are on station, everything seems correct. Even in the quick battles every submarine's deck gun fires 2 rounds per minute. :k_confused:

Welcome aboard!

They are tired from being at GQ for too long or they suck and have no experience? Just wild guesses here. Welcome aboard Sir, I learned a lot here beyond the OTJ training.

another idea to consider along with those who have posted above is to check the Gun skills of the chaps you have working the weapon. if they have low skill values, it would probably factor in the reload time.

the crew fatigue was my first thought however when crew fatigue affects performance, they either perform normally or they do not perform at all.

:hmmm:

I don't think anyone here understands so let me make it clear.

ANY SUBMARINE In ANY situation takes 30 seconds. 2 round per minute.

Quick battles. Careers. All of them. No matter what boat type.

My guess Is just a clean reinstall might help? [EDIT] A clean reinstall did not fix it. Instead I unsintalled and reinstalled every mod and started a new career *sigh*.

No idea what was causing the issue, but now they reload in a realistic 10 ish seconds.

How to get down to 10 seconds

I had a similar problem in SH V 'till I started doing my own shooting(saves ammo!) and bestowed enhancement performance points to the torpedo officer and gunnermate. The gun crew always does better when you're standing behind them on the plunging deck watching...stopwatch in hand!! GOOD HUNTING! :arrgh!::Kaleun_Los::Kaleun_Mad:

100_FalloftheRisingSun_Ultimate_v1.8

Fleetboat_Interior-Officers_Quarters_FOTRSU_v1.7_EN

De-activate your "FI-OQ_FotRSU_v1.8f_upcPatch" mod, then re-activate it, such that you then have:

Generic Mod Enabler - v2.6.0.157
[D:\Games\Silent Hunter 4 Gold Edition\MODS]

100_FalloftheRisingSun_Ultimate_v1.8
Fleetboat_Interior-Officers_Quarters_FOTRSU_v1.7_EN
FI-OQ_FotRSU_v1.8f_upcPatch

That will place your interior 3D crew where they should be. That might have been contributing to the re-load times also. :salute:

this is a game. the enemy AI is set to fire every 10 seconds (6/minute) and they are most accurate.

take the parameter as it is offered. be a little kind. (with apologies to the screenwriter of Lawrence of Arabia):D
