RIP Gene Hackman

He and his wife were found dead beside their dog. Media did not say it, but due to the circumstances I assume they voluntarily left together (except the dog, maybe).

As an actor, he was very intense and very screen-present. Thats both two big compliments. And I did not even like most of the roles he played. But he was a master of his art.

Bon voyage, Sir.

R.I.P Gene and thank you for your performance

He was a great actor. May he and his wife rest in peace.

The Conversation was one of my favorite movies of his.

I wouldn't assume murder/suicide like Skybird says. Given the fact that the dog died too it's far more likely this was a gas leak or carbon monoxide poisoning.

Skybird 02-27-25 10:47 AM

I assumed suicide, not murder, the police said so far nothing indicates murder.

They also said they all three laid close to each other/side by side. Not impossible that it was a gas leak, but due to this description I think a voluntary act is more likely. Just a subjecitve feeling.

Anyhow. If it was gas, they will soon enough reveal that. Its absolutely possible, of course.

Looks like the case has taken a dramatic turn

Yes, it has taken a turn.

First reports I red this morning said the two bodies were found close to each other, and the dog with them, close to them. Police said no signs for a violent crime.

Now it is the bodies were found in two different rooms/places, one dog dead, and two more dogs survived and the police says it does not rule out anything anymore.

Back to square one.

Edit:

Family members have now expressed the same suspicion that August has: gas poisoning.

P.S. Dogs can NOT smell CO and CO2.

Yes a terrific film. Anything he was in earned immediate kudos - a guarantee of a good movie. Now, as usual, someone will come up with a list of turkeys - but I honestly can't think of any

I'm really sorry to hear of Gene Hackman, his wife and the loss of the dog. I liked Gene's movies including the French Connection, Crimson Tide, Behind Enemy lines, Hoosiers, No way out and the Firm with Tom Cruise and Unforgiven with Clint Eastwood. Gene hackman also played the role of the blind monk in the Mel Brooks comedy, Young Frankenstein.

Rest in Peace, Gene. Thanks for the great Cinema.
